HOW TO BUILT A FORMULA STUDENT COMPETITION CAR

It takes dedication, effort, endurance, time and money. BRT, the highly motivated team of students from the Bern University of Applied Sciences, has developed an electric racing car for the Formula Student project – a worldwide time attack competition consisting of over 650 teams.

What’s the connection? Not in the first year, octane126 is one of the main sponsors of the Swiss team - Supporting them financially, sharing knowledge and employ students during and after completing their studies.

The new racecar “Nebula” was built in nine months and took around 20’000 hrs to complete with 55 students that engineered and assembled the car in their free time. Nebula can accelerate from 0 to 100 in 3.45 seconds and reachesa  top speed of 130km/h.

Sébastien Cavedon from the Bern University of Applied Science’s racing team says: “There are five teams from Switzerland at present, and last year we finished second. We’re very proud of what we achieved, considering we had to learn how to control and channel aerodynamics ourselves, and how to sculpt the body to be as efficient as it can be under the financial constraints that we have.”
